Methodology

The research work for this project involved a combination of desk-top research, literature reviews  and written submissions information from a wide range of individuals based within the European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils (EEAC), Government Agricultural Offices and National Ministries.

The research was commissioned by the Dutch Council for the Rural Area (RLG), in its role as chair of  the EEAC Agricultural Working Group. The project team consisted of researchers from Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR): Tia Hermans (Alterra), Anne van Doorn (Alterra), Ida Terluin (LEI), Pim Roza (LEI), as well as Agneta Andersson, project leader.Balázs Gargyán (trainee from CAH Dronten), Miep Eisner (communication officer) all of whom are based in RLG.

The work has been supported by the network of the Agricultural Attachés of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Wageningen University and Research Centre and members of the EEAC Working Group on Agriculture and Rural Development.

EEAC

The European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils (EEAC) is a network of councils appointed by national and regional governments to provide independent, scientifically-based advice on the environment and sustainable development. Various working groups support the EEAC network.  This project originated from discussions within the EEAC Working Group on Agriculture and Rural Development (EEAC WG Agriculture).
